Update

Dear Friends,

We want to thank all of you who have prayed for or time in Colorado to be fruitful. It has been a wonderful experience for the both of us, and we believe it will continue to be for our last two weeks here. We have been learning a great deal about how to survive and thrive in another cultural, and we have been very refreshed by our time here.

On Friday we finished our three week training program called SPLICE, which was devoted to a multitude of things related to crossing into another cultural to live. It was great to be in class with other missionaries facing many of the same problems and challenges we are and will be facing. It reminded us of how big and many the needs are around the world, and how big our God is who called each one of us to various places around the world.

Tomorrow (Monday) we start the two-week program called PILAT (Program in Language Acquisition Techniques), which is devoted to preparing and learning the best techniques to learn a new language. We had a short summary of the program during SPLICE and think it will be very valuable during the language learning process.

Prayer Needs:

1) For concentration over the next two weeks as we finish our time here in Colorado.

2) For guidance about what to do for jobs and support raising when we return to Alabama.

3) For people to be willing to partner with us prayerfully and financially.

4) For clarity about setting a more specific date to leave for France. This depends on our support levels when we return to Alabama.

Also, one last thing…we are praying to be in France by March 2009. So if you know anyone who might be interested in partnering with us financially please let us know. We would love to come and speak to a Sunday school class, small group, church congregation, individual, etc. Please join in praying with us for our support to be at 100% by March 2009!

In Christ,
Daniel & Magen

Quick Update

2 weeks into our training we are learning so much and would ask that you pray for our ability to concentrate with 3 more weeks still left. It has been wonderful seeing God work in us and those here with us and we look forward to what He still has left to do. We have one week left of cross cultural training and then start the two week language acquisition training.

Day 13

It has been whirlwind the last 13 days having logged in over 30 hours of driving, experiencing 8 states (some more boring than others "Kansas"), and learning the joy of living out of a suitcase. It has also been a great blessing. We cherish the time this trip has afforded us to spend with friends and all the wonderful experiences it has brought our way.  All of this just 13 days into our 43 day excursion. We can't wait to see what else God has in store for us.

We started classes on Monday afternoon and have thoroughly enjoy the time of fellowship and learning we have had with the other missionaries here. Right now we are learning what it takes to identify the parts of yourself and the culture we come from that will hinder our ability to minister and move beyond that to effectively reach the people God has called us to. Needless to say just 4 days into the course it has already taught us a great deal that will help us adapt to France and become effective witnesses for Christ there.  Continue to pray for endurance and a focus as classes will challenge us more & more.  Thank you to all those who are praying for us in this special time.

We made it!

We have made it to Colorado and have been having a great time catching up with friends that we haven't seen for awhile.  We will be heading for Colorado Springs on Monday to start our training. We will post more updates as we get a chance so keep a look out.  Until Next Time.

The Blessing of Being out of Control

The worst and the best thing about the missionary journey is the feeling of being completely out of control most of the time. The worst is that sometimes you feel like there is nothing you can do and that no matter how hard you work you don't accomplish anything. But the best thing is that it teaches you to totally rely on God and to take everything to Him in prayer because He is the one that has everything under control. And in those moments when you realize that it is so relieving to know that God only wants a willing servant and that it is not up to you it is up to Him who holds the universe in His hand.
